Kicking it off
Sketches from the past month
I’ve been wanting a place I can share more unfinished/sketchy work and the thought process behind all of this without having to make giant threads on twitter that end up getting lost and buried, or the pressure of posting on instagram where it feels like I’m messing up the look of everything (I know I know, I can’t help it.)
I also find myself craving the ability to be a bit more candid and open about the process without opening myself up to all the baggage that twitter brings with it. So this felt like a good place to try it out.
In the next few weeks I’ll be posting older tutorial and process work on here just to have a place to keep it and store it. For now, here are some sketches that I did over the months of July and August in gouache, watercolor, pastel or some combination of all three.
This one is quite personal to me, it’s a flower I picked for my niece Lena on the day she was born. I pressed it, painted it in bloom next to the pressing and wrote her a message for her first birthday in July. It’s the type of thing I don’t really feel belongs in my portfolio but I like it all the same. So I guess that’s what this is also going to be. For things I make that I like that aren’t necessarily portfolio pieces
I know the main point of this place is subscription based writing, and what I’ll likely do over time is offer some monthly sub-only tutorials but for now, just gonna share sketches and old process notes. Thanks for looking.
